"the home grown version of Wilbur Smith" The Sunday Age
In 1916, the Duffys and Macintoshes are entangled in the horrors of World War I. From the deserts of the Middle East to the trenches of Europe, the hand of death is always present. But even those left behind are not safe, for the most dangerous of enemies is not the Germans or the Turks, but someone much closer to home...
To Ride the Wind continues the story begun in To Touch the Clouds, following Peter Watt's much-loved characters as they fight to survive one of the most devastating conflicts in history - and each other.

To Ride the Wind The Frontier Series 6 - edition by Peter Watt. Literature & Fiction eBooks @ . Reviews
To Ride the Wind (The Frontier Series 6) continues the engaging story of the families and people we have come to know so well. It is unusual for so many sequels to retain one's interest, but this series certainly does.
Enjoyed very much
Another great book. I have already downloaded the next book in the series. I have enjoyed all books in the series so far & look forward to reading them all.
Nimber 6 of 7, so far. Hard to review, I feel like I'm repeating myself, having read and reviewed all the others. You be the judge, intrigue, murder, deception, romance, historic, hard to put down. Scottish and Irish pioneering families in outback Australia feuding, falling in love, going to war. It has it all yet again.
I have bought read all 11 books of this Frontier series in a matter of three weeks. Peter Watt is a master. Somewhere he is mentioned as being a homegrown Australian Wilbur Smith. I disagree. He IS the first and only Peter Watt! An excellent writer, master storyteller with gripping well researched content married to the saga of the Duffy and Macintosh families over the course of a century. Every single one of them a MUST READ.
I have read the complete series. All books makes good, entertaining and catching reading even if throughout the generations the profile of some of the characters tends to repeat itself and the situations, even in different times and geographical settings, are also somewhat repetitive.
This one was right at the top in the series. Pete's books are such page turners and has everything I like about a book...interesting characters and lots of action. They don't seem to have found the interest in the US, and all I can say about that is avid readers are missing a wonderful opportunity. However, I am very upset that doesn't have the next book in the series, and I'm still on a quest to find it without spending an exorbitant amount of money.
The author story is well written but his efforts draw readers into buying more of the sequel leaves me with the feeling that the"good" characters lack the intelligence to out maneuver him and bring him down.
I site Patrick and his son Alex whom the author has developed into a intense military personalities but lacking the intelligence or desire to protect themselves from Georges actions to wrest away their shares in family enterprises. This shows lack of realistic attitudes and character.
It becomes tiresome and distasteful as a reader to have the author develope plots and events that continue to advance the greed and unethical plans of the evil George. No matter how well the"good guys" try they lose out to George; suffer war injuries, cheated out of their inheritances, killed by crooked police, etc. Author could develop content that at least shows that the "good guys" are not dim witted and are able to deal with evil not having to suffer to the deathes, injuries, and multitude of misfortunes.
Evil George whom is also under the curse has not been affected by it at all? Something a good writer would not allow to transpire obviously another miscue by this author that does relate well. Again the author's clumsy attempt to have you buy another seauel!
