Surviving Raine Summary

Bastian’s Storm – Summary
Sebastian Stark just isn’t cut out for normal life with a girlfriend in the hot and humid city of Miami. All in all, he’d rather be back on the island where it was just the two of them, and he could keep everything in balance. The bar down the street tempts him daily, but he’s determined to remain strong. Adjusting to normal life is difficult, but Bastian is doing his best to keep himself together and the nightmares away. Raine’s happy, and that’s what matters to him the most.
But not all nightmares can be driven away.
When Bastian’s former mentor comes into the picture and presents him with an ultimatum, Bastian slips into old habits. Though he wants to shield Raine from the truth, the shady circumstances of his past form into a hurricane he can’t control. In an effort to protect her, Bastian has no choice but to throw himself back into his old job – death match tournaments – just one last time.
Dropped into the arctic wilderness with weapons loaded, Bastian has to compete against representatives from major crime lords all over the states. He’s studied his competition, he knows their weaknesses, and he’s ready to battle for the woman he loves. There’s only one opponent in the mix that causes him any concern. In order to guarantee Raine’s safety, Bastian will be pitted against the key hit man for Chicago’s largest mob family – a guy who’s known as one hell of a shot.

Let me first say that I read Surviving the Storm after hearing so many good things about it in the comments section for her other book, Commodity--which was equally a page turner full of just the right amount of suspense and romance I have come to know and love from Shay Savage. The men in her books are tragic heroes, many of them fighting their own demons and insecurities while protecting the women they love even when the odds seem stacked against them.Seeing the unlikely romance blossom between Sebastian and Raine in the face of surviving a tragic shipwreck was especially sweet, and reading the follow-up book to this set, Bastian's Storm--was especially good in showing how their relationship evolved and changed once they left the island, and the many issues Sebastian faced in being the man Raine wanted him to be.
As sweet and suspenseful this story is, I just couldn't get past spelling and grammatical issues that really didn't coincide with the caliber of character development and an interesting storyline that is Shay Savage. As an example, "Summersault" instead of "somersault", among a few others I noticed while I was reading.
Grammar and spelling aside, I would recommend this book for anyone that can appreciate a good action-romance novel, as Shay Savage definitely doesn't disappoint! I am definitely a fan after reading Surviving the Storm and Commodity...can't wait to start reading about Evan Arden next! 😊

Loved Surviving Raine and tore through Bastian's Storm in less than 24 hours. Shay definitely knows how to tell a gripping tale.
I really loved these 2 books. Bastian was a moody SOB, but you couldn't help but love him. I really enjoyed reading from his POV.
I really enjoyed Sebastian and Raine's story. I loved how they learned to depend on each other- yet each grew in their own way. They didn't instantly change- they stumbled along the way. I only recently discovered Shay Savage- but I plan on continuing to read her stories.
Having already read Surviving Raine, I expected Bastion's Storm to follow suit. In some ways it does feel familiar in style, but it takes place in another world with entirely new challenges. A few times I thought I had it all figured out and was pleasantly surprised by a rather brilliant and unexpected twist.
I loved book 1 Surviving Raine! 5 stars!
This book has the most unforgettable line ever written! I'm not going to spoil it but you will know it when you read it. One of the best written scenes ever! Trust me on this one.
Book 2 Bastian's Storm 4.5 Stars! More angst in this book that will have you staying up late at night! You will not be able to put it down...no dishes, laundry, or dinner until you know what happens. Who am I kidding sounds like the perfect night!
This book was different. I liked how these two stories were told from Bastian's POV. That was a nice change. He is not really a nice guy and that doesn't really change. Raine annoyed me quite a bit. She was better in the second, but I kept thinking that he could no better. Of course the ending of the second book made me wonder about Arden's ending. I would recommend this book to those who are looking for something a little different.
I really enjoyed this book a lot. I had read Transcended and love, love, loved it. So when I found this book by Shay Savage and read the reviews, I knew I had to read it.
If you like A LOT of graphic sex scenes, this is the book for you. I do have to admit, that after awhile, I just paged through them. I mean really? How many different ways can you describe having sex, feeling the emotions and having an orgasm? What saved the book for me was the twists and turns in the plot line. I liked this book enough to go purchase other books from her. I love the fact that it is told from a MPV.
